Child-Managed Work

The main objective of this method is to make children understand and experience “freedom with limits.” Children are given activities that interest them. These activities are chosen based on how they capture the child’s attention then allow them to engage in the specific activity for a length of time without any limits or deadlines.


The Receptive Thinking

Children are curious by nature. Their eagerness triggers interest. By giving them freedom of exploration, they can learn things about their surroundings in a method where they can enjoy every moment of it, guided but not controlled. 


Sensitive Learning Stage

The Montessori method of teaching believes that there are different sensitive stages in learning. So instead of changing subjects to suit different ages. This method states that there must be changes in the educational approach instead to suit each age. Necessary steps are done before moving onto the next stage. For example, rather than handing them worksheets or letting them memorize steps for mathematics, younger students are introduced to mathematics by making them spend time on counting wooden colored boxes. And as they become comfortable in counting, the teacher or guardian then guides them with basic concepts of adding more blocks or taking some away. A simple yet effective way of teaching math.




Prepared Environment 

Classrooms are carefully prepared in a Montessori institution. Providing special materials to allow children to learn with a gradual increase in abstraction. Children enjoy going through these materials with the guidance of a teacher or guardian. The classrooms are carefully designed for the children’s safety as well. It is for them to explore the area of a specific classroom for days and learn while they do it. Wide-open spaces are also encouraged for children to give them a sense of freedom, not locked up in a small room.
